Grandma Becky and Julia |
Becky Brown decided to create "Pick Pigs" because of her sincere desire to help children learn the principles of money management. The Pick Pigs project includes three children-friendly piggy banks and a book that gives examples of how to use the banks.
Becky, a graphic designer, began the project with the words "SAVING," "SHARING" and "SPENDING." Encouragement and assistance came from Becky's husband, Rod - a banker, and her grown children, Ryan and Megan. The Pick Pigs book is dedicated to Becky's first grandchild, Julia. Friends from around the country, neighbors and family members also helped by giving feedback on the project. Inspiration came from Oprah Winfrey, who has aired several shows about moms who start a successful home business. Becky, a native of Kansas, is at home in Santa Barbara, California. |
